Carpathian resort comparison: snow, transfer and lift pass side by side

Five resorts are compared below on the four numbers that decide a ski week: snow depth at mid-mountain, transfer time from Kyiv or Lviv, the 7-day lift pass, and 7 nights of lodging per person. Bukovel posts the deepest base at 90–100 cm and the highest pass price, while Dragobrat and Krasiya are the cheaper weeks.

Rates are per person for 7 nights, mid-January to late February, in hryvnia at the booking rate. Snow depth is the resort's own mid-mountain reading.

Practical guidance

Entry, visa and insurance rules for Ukrainian passport holders

Ukrainians enter the Schengen area visa-free, and a ski trip there requires medical insurance covering at least 30,000 EUR with winter sports named in the policy. Buy the cover directly from an insurer or broker; we do not sell insurance and take no commission on it. Standard tourist policies often stop at the marked piste, so check the wording before you pay.

Documents at the border

  • Biometric passport valid for at least 3 months past your return date, plus the previous passport if the visa or stamps are inside it.
  • Confirmation of accommodation for every night and a return ticket, saved offline as well as on your phone.
  • Printed medical insurance certificate showing the policy number, coverage sum and the winter sports clause.
  • Drivers: Green Card, vehicle registration, and winter tyres that meet the rules of the country you cross.

Insurance that covers the way you actually ski

Check three lines on the policy: the medical limit, the winter sports extension, and whether search and rescue is included. Rescue helicopters in the Carpathians and the Alps are billed to the rescued person, and a policy without a rescue clause will not pay for one. If you plan to ride off-piste or on glacier terrain, ask for the extension in writing before departure.

On the mountain

Ride within the marked area unless you carry avalanche gear and know how to use it, and never ski alone in the backcountry. Keep the emergency number 112 saved, note the resort rescue service number at check-in, and tell someone which run you are taking. Helmets are mandatory in most Ukrainian resorts on the lifts.
